Marie’s Story

Marie

Marie Rogers
Medicine (MBChB)
University of Edinburgh
Ex-Central Sussex College student
Age: 18

While she was at college, Aimhigher Sussex provided Marie with interview advice as well as information on progression routes to higher education and looking at relevant work experience.

She enjoys the independence of moving away from home as well as the variety of her course, which includes science and practical skills, as well as practical experience with real life patients. At Edinburgh, Marie is involved in the Musical Medics Orchestra and Choir as well as the union snow sports club.

Marie admits that sometimes being away from home is hard, especially when there’s no one there to look after you if you get sick, however flatmates can be good support and being at university means meeting a wide range of people from all over the world and “being able to do what you want, when you want.”

Having already gained a lot of practical experience, including observing operations, Marie will continue her training as a doctor when she graduates and is looking at moving into the surgical field as well as many other options.
