Curriculum Networks

Aimhigher Sussex have set up six curriculum networks, each hosted by a partner university with representation from FE and professional practitioners.

Curriculum Networks events provide interactive and engaging taster opportunities for students that will enhance curriculum knowledge and give the opportunity to sample study at higher education level.

These events are free for Aimhigher cohorts excluding travel and staff cover (lunch is provided for some events). See below for all upcoming subject related activities including the free Curriculum Networks activities.

Creative and Media

The Creative and Media Network is hosted by the University of Brighton and is chaired by Anne Asha. Members of the network include colleagues from our partners at both HE and FE as well as the De La Warr Pavilion, Creative Partnerships and colleagues from the 14–19 Partnerships.

Health and Social Care

The Health and Social Care Network is hosted by the Aimhigher Healthcare strand and has a rotational chair amongst our members. Members of the network include colleagues from our partners including the University of Brighton, The University of Sussex, Brighton and Sussex Medical School, South East Coast Strategic Health Authority.

Languages

This year, Aimhigher Sussex is working with Routes into Languages and the Open University to provide a series of interventions and activities in Aimhigher target schools and colleges to raise awareness of the importance of learning a modern foreign language. All activities will be delivered in classrooms by Aimhigher Language Ambassadors who are either taking a modern foreign language at one of our partner universities or who attend a partner university and are a native speaker of a modern foreign language. There will also be a series of campus-based activities on offer as well as a range of resources.

Science, Technology and Maths

The Science, Technology and Maths Network is hosted by the University of Sussex and is chaired by chemistry lecturer, Dr Hazel Cox. Members of the network include colleagues from our partners including the University of Brighton, the OU, the NHS, an Aimhigher school and an Aimhigher college.
