Health & Social Care Summer School Is A Great Success

Aimhigher Sussex, supported by the School of Nursing and Midwifery (SNM) have recently hosted a very successful four day residential summer school attended by twelve Year 12 and 13 students taking vocational courses in Health and Social Care.

On Day 1 the students were divided into groups and allocated patient case studies by the SNM team.

They were encouraged to keep these patients in mind as they attended workshops, seminars, lectures and a tour of the Royal Sussex County Hospital.

On Day 4 students made presentations to the SNM team of their recommendations and care packages for their patients.

Students also spent a morning at the Chelsea School, attended a workshop given by Ivan Birch from the School of Health Professions, and a morning with the Widening Participation team.

The feedback has been extremely positive, with all twelve students seriously considering attending University to further their education and career prospects.
